Hello! Welcome to The Box Office Report for the weekend of Oct. 11-13, 2024.

1. Terrifier 3

Weekend gross: $18.3M
Total domestic gross: $18.3M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

The terrifying clown at the center of Terrifier 3 was not the scariest thing at the box office this weekend. The scariest thing at the box office this weekend was the historic 81 percent drop by Joker: Folie à Deux from last weekend. As the Joker sequel plummeted from first to third, Terrifier 3 was able to claim a pre-Halloween box office crown with $18.3 million.

Terrifier 3 easily shattered every box office record for the Terrifier franchise thanks to the film receiving a real theatrical release (2,514 screens this weekend) while the first two films got very limited releases.

Terrifier 2 wrapped up in domestic run with just under $11 million — a number easily passed by its sequel in its opening weekend.

2. The Wild Robot

Weekend gross: $13.5M
Total domestic gross: $83.7M
Last weekend: 2nd
Percent drop: 29

With Folie à Deux absolutely crashing, The Wild Robot hung around at No. 2 for the second weekend in a row. The film (which I need to remind you is a masterpiece) is closing in on the $100 million mark in North America and is less than $2 million away from passing $150 million on a worldwide level.

I’m happy to see The Wild Robot still making money, but it’s wild that this beautiful, heartbreaking film sits behind so many mediocre DreamWorks Animation movies when it comes to domestic grosses: Antz ($90.8 million), Trolls Band Together ($103 million) and Shark Tale ($161 million) for example.
