It’s ‘One of Them Days’ for the weekend box office

Based on Sunday estimates, the Keke Palmer and Sza comedy narrowly beat out ‘Mufasa’ while ‘Wolf Man’ failed to scare up a big debut.

Hello! Welcome to The Box Office Report for the weekend of Jan. 17-19, 2025.

1. One of Them Days

Weekend gross: $11.6M
Total domestic gross: $11.6M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

It was a fairly quiet weekend at the box office, with every release coming in at less than $12 million. Based on Sunday estimate, One of Them Days appears to have scored a win over Mufasa: The Lion King.

The comedy, which starred Keke Palmer and Sza, currently outgrossed Disney’s Lion King prequel in its fifth weekend in theaters, by $60,000.

2. Mufasa: The Lion King

Weekend gross: $11.5M
Total domestic gross: $205.8M
Last weekend: 2nd
Percent drop: 19

Yay, it only took Mufasa five weekends to accomplish what Jon Favreau’s The Lion King “live”-action remake a single weekend to do. At long last, Mufasa surpassed the $191.8 million that 2019’s Lion King grossed its opening weekend.

Can you feel that? The electricity in the air? That’s the exciting building for the live-action Moana remake thanks to Mufasa’s box office spectacle.
